About Hawk-Eye

Hawk-Eye Sensors Ltd. is the sister company of Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd., responsible for bringing the instant replay camera system to the world’s premier tennis courts. Hawk-Eye Sensors is extending this ground-breaking technology to provide line-calling support for tennis players away from the bright lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium or Rod Laver Arena; giving every tennis player the opportunity to reap the benefits of this extraordinary sporting development.

Hawk-Eye Sensors uses wire thin sensors under the court surface to determine whether a shot is “in” or “out”. The Sensors send an electronic signal to proprietary hardware and software based on the Tribo-electric energy released when a tennis ball strikes the surface of the court over the wire sensors.

Tribo-electric research for tennis has been underway for over ten years based on the ground breaking work of Joe Fisher, et al. In 2005, in order to extend line-calling technology to all courts in tennis, Hawk-Eye Innovations acquired the rights to this exciting work. Since then, Dr. Paul Hawkins, inventor of the camera-based system, has worked alongside Mark Greenberg, retired Managing Partner of Accenture, to enhance and commercialize this technology and ensure that it performs to the same consistently high standards as its camera-based predecessor. By uniting Paul as Chairman and Mark as President and CEO, Hawk-Eye Sensors has created a winning partnership that can only maximize the potential value for the tennis industry.

Hawk-Eye Sensors’ mission is to manufacture, sell and install the highest quality, easy to use, most accurate line sensors in the tennis industry in order to make the game of tennis fairer and more fun.
